"Through the years, Vester’s work has touched on various levels of our experience of the external world, stretched as it is between bodily anchored sense perception, cognition, memory, and history. With the simplest possible means and setting out from a self-imposed expressive minimalism, she attempts to evoke qualities of experience whose scope reach far beyond the concrete material, since that scope, for instance, encompasses the entire room in which the work is shown. Throughout, her works enable one to maintain a double focus on the world; the starting-point is always the sensory given, a thing in space, a color, a concrete surface. However, this material is opened up towards an otherness, a conceptual or spatial context that displaces it in unexpected directions. She thereby explores the possibilities of an expansion of things, and particularly colors, of their extension into space, whether it be of memory, of personal history, or of an otherwise attributed sense." (Mikkel Bogh, 2000, Catalogue text for the exhibition Fact & Value, Charlottenborg DK, 2000).
Vester’s exhibition at CCNOA in 2003 presented ca. 300 color slides from the artist’s slide series ’Color Slides’ The series was started in 2001 and is open ended. The slides depict snapshot-like images of objects and structures (red car, blue scarf, green fence), which are linked to the artist’s personal experiences, memories, dreams etc. Originally used as an archive and point of departure for Vester’s abstract compositions on glass and most recently for her site-specific installations, ’Color Slides’ was for the first time presented as such.
