Jeanine Cohen February 2000

*1951 in Brussels (Belgium)

Lives & works in Brussels

For Cohen painting is a field of research and experimentation around three parameters: The application of paint, the relationship between color and light and the delimitation of the pictorial surface. In her recent work, entitled ’painting/volume’, Cohen explores the ambiguity of volume versus painting and object versus spatial configuration in relation to a given spatial setting. Expanding on the subtle incandescence of color zones and the potency of volume, Cohen aims to dematerialize and transcend both the notion and the physicality of the object with surprisingly simple means.

Her exhibition in CCNOA project room in 2000 featured a site-specific installation.
