’minimalpop’, the first of our touring exhibitions, is curated by Petra Bungert and German artist Tilman. The xehibition opened first at Florence Lynch Gallery, New York City (USA) in July 2004, and was subsequently presented at Galerie les filles du calvaire, Paris (F) and Brussels (B) in spring 2005. The previous versions of ’minimalpop’ featured the work (painting, sculpture, video, in situ installations) of 12 and later on 19 international abstract artists, namely John Armleder (CH), John Beech (UK/USA), Julian Dashper (NZ), Robert Glaubit (USA), Daniel Göttin (CH), Kyle Jenkins (AUS), René Levi (CH), Mathieu Mercier (F), Gerold Miller (D), Olivier Mosset (CH/USA), Gerwald Rockenschaub (A/D), Tilman (D/B), John Tremblay (UK), Alan Uglow (UK/USA), Jan van der Ploeg (NL), Emmanuelle Villard (F/B), Dan Walsh (USA), Tamara Zahaykevich (USA), Beat Zoderer (CH). A 36-pages, full-color ’flip-book’ published by CCNOA, accompanied the presentation of ’minimalpop’ in New York (ISBN 92-990006-3-8). The exhibition in Paris and Brussels was featured in the full-color catalogue ’peinture: 3 regards’ published by Galerie les filles du calvaire (ISBN 2-84105-192-7). The essay about ’minimalpop’ in this publication is written by German art-historian Friederike Nymphius, Berlin (D). The aim of our new touring exhibitions program is not only to provide an insight into the artists’ diverse artistic approaches and practices and contextualize their positions on an international level, but also to enrich the supranational dialogue and discourse about contemporary non-objective art today and to strengthen cultural exchange between the respective cultural communities and artists.
